This might be what Max Payne always was and I have failed to see it, but I don't know. In this game, he feels more like a drunk roid-monkey who kills because he doesn't know anything else. Max doesn't seem the smart cop he was back in 1 & 2. The importance of head shots in this game has made it more interesting for me because I feel like there is a big skill cap to get good, which is always fun. I'm still disappointment about the lack of weapon variety or longetivity, and sometimes I feel like they go too over-the-top with the action bullet-time events. I figured I can smoke a bowl or something, but then I'd be smoking constantly - that's too much.
Even when I am having fun, I am still putting down the controller every few minutes because of a new cut scene. It is good entertainment because some of the things he says are profound. It screws me up because then I assume I'm already shooting with the shotgun.ĮDIT: So I beat the game and I have found the story to be good, though It feels like Max is just parodying himself. I got to the end of chapter 3 and I just couldn't take it anymore.Īnother pet peeve is how I'd be handling a shotgun and, after the many cinematic events that are in this game, it switches you back to the pistol. There isn't even a whole lot of bullet time events because you barely get any for killing and the amount of bullet time you can use is far too limited. Anytime I actually get to play, I'm quickly reminded that I DON'T get to play because a new cinematic is playing. What the hell happened to the third installment? I played and loved max payne 1 and 2, so you know.
